Start the Week Right: A Monday Sales Meditation

If your days are running together and every day feels like it “could be” the weekend or a half-day, or ultra-casual day due to working from home during the  pandemic,

I want to share with you my Monday morning sales meditation to help you create a “set point” for your week—starting out with a fantastic mindset.

Yes, I’m getting a little, “woo-woo” with you but you’re a captive audience—where are you going to go?

Kidding.

The benefits of meditation are physical and scientific—from lowering blood pressure, to help achieve your goals, to improving discipline—so, if you’ve not tried it, never thought to try it, or do it every day, I offer you up a little something different today.

I’ve changed it up just a smidge during quarantine but I’ve been using this to start my weeks off for many years. I sit in meditation with these thoughts that help me set my intention and listen—listen to my gut, listen to my heart, and listen, truly listen, to my clients and buyers.

This isn’t about creating your to-do list. This is about listening to what your soul/self/spirit/mind—whatever—is telling you about that person, framed in light of who you might encounter in the next week.

So, find a quiet and comfortable spot. Set aside 10 to 15 minutes. Put your phone on silent and put it away from you. Relax, open up your mind, B-R-E-A-T-H-E, and listen to what comes to you.

Monday Morning Sales Meditation Prompts

1. Do a body scan

  • One body part at a time, dial into that area and—relax your toes, your calves, your thighs, your stomach, your arms, your shoulders, your neck, and head.

2. Say aloud with a deep breath between each statement:

  • Today is Monday.
  • Today starts the week that is full of possibilities and opportunities for me to explore.
  • My intention is to open my mind and heart to the people I encounter on my journey this week.

3. Breathe and relax and pay attention to who enters your thoughts

  • Can you see their face? How do you feel about them?
  • Imagine they’re giving you a gift.
  • Breathe in and out deeply again, staying relaxed.

4. Say aloud with a deep breath between each statement:

  • I’m grateful for the people on my path and all they show me.
  • Customers and buyers have their own unique troubles and worries and need my compassion.
  • I am here to share my gifts and offer my help to each who needs me.
  • I will do my best to listen to what they need.

5. Breathe and relax; think about how you “show up” this week:

  • What images come to mind?
  • How do you feel about how you help people?
  • Breathe in and out deeply again, staying relaxed.

6. Say aloud with a deep breath between each statement:

  • Now, I’m ready to show up, be present, listen, and give my gifts where they are needed.

What do you think? How do you feel? Could you do this every Monday? Hey, there’s nothing stopping you from doing it every day!
